Kitchen Floor Damaged Caused by Broken Refrigerator Water Supply
This kitchen located in a home in Waukesha County, Wisconsin had significant water damage after the supply line to the refrigerator had burst spraying water for an undetermined amount of time.
After a call to the property owner's insurance agent and a recommendation to call SERVPRO, the owner chose to call SERVPRO of SW Waukesha County because of the recommendation.
One of the objectives at SERVPRO of SW Waukesha County is to try and restore the structure with as little demolition as possible. This leads to a significant cost savings for the customer and possibly the insurance carrier. However, there are instances when we have no choice but to remove a wet material.
The first photo shows a section of the hardwood floor that had already popped off prior to SERVPRO's arrival. You can see the plastic vapor barrier that is under the floor boards, which is where the moisture is trapped. Because of that trapped moisture, there is no way that SERVPRO can dry the subfloor underneath, which is why it was determined to remove the hardwood flooring.
The second photo shows the subfloor in the kitchen after the boards and plastic varpor barrier were removed. One can see the wet subfloor that SERVPRO of SW Waukesha County will dry.
